Are you thinking about buying some real estate in Toronto? Maybe a house, condo or loft? Have you already started looking into mortgages options? Well, then it's time to get know a little bit about the city you will soon be calling home. We aim to give you a mini Toronto 101 crash course.

If you've been living your whole life in a small city then the first thing you need to know is that Toronto is one of Canada's largest city with a population of over two and a half million people. It's home to a wide range of diverse people and is quite the multi-cultural town. There are areas of town dedicated solely to specific cultures such as Chinatown, Little Italy, Little India, Greektown and Portugal Village, just to name a few. The real estate agent you hire might be located in a distinct part of town but you would never know it if you didn't go directly to their location because Toronto is very friendly and welcoming to all people of all ethnicities.

As well, Toronto is the economic capital of Canada. If you are in the market for a condo, there is no better place to live in than Toronto. The Globalization and World Cities study group has designated Toronto an "alpha world city" deeming it an integral cog in the global economic system.

Toronto is also a great place to live in if you are really into sports and entertainment as it's home to many great entertainment venues and sports teams. Toronto has a professional hockey team in the Maple Leafs, a professional basketball team in the Raptors and a professional baseball team in the Blue Jays. As well as teams in the Canadian Football League, Major League Soccer and National Lacrosse League. Whatever your favourite sport is, you'll find a game going on during the year.

If you're not a sports fan, there are plenty of venues you can attend such as Lee's Palace, Sneaky Dee's, Massey Hall or the Toronto Centre For The Arts, to take in a concert, musical or theatre performance.

Whatever you need in Toronto, be it a law firm (see here), a doctor (search here), or an Italian deli (so many here!), just to name a few, you'll find Toronto is home to pretty much anything you need or want. Of course, there is so much more about Toronto than what we mentioned in this article. So once you're settled in, you should go out and explore what Toronto has to offer on your own little adventure!
